A Matter of Principal with Jim Parrish

April 13, 2017

Dear Parents and Friends,

In a few days we all will have opportunity to attend church on Easter Sunday and I urge you all to do so. After all it is the day we as Believers celebrate/commemorate when Jesus defeated death, stepped out of the grave, and opened a way for each of us to have a personal relationship with Him.

Jesus defeated death so we might know Him personally – amazing and no matter what the Lord could bring to my mind to write scripture embodies it better. So enjoy the following from Luke’s gospel.

But very early on Sunday morning the women came to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found that the stone covering the entrance had been rolled aside. So they went in, but they couldn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. They were puzzled, trying to think what could have happened to it. Suddenly, two men appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. The women were terrified and bowed low before them. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking in a tomb for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He has risen from the dead! Don’t you remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again the third day?”

Wow! The grave could not contain Him. Death was not able to hold Him. Sin, our sin, has been washed away by Him.

May each of us live every moment of every day with the same excitement and wonder the first Believers had on that first Easter morning when they realized Jesus, our Savior, is ALIVE!

Happy Easter one and all!

In His grip,

Jim Parrish
