BOYS PHYSICAL EDUCATION - 1/2 Credit

Course No. 911

This course is designed to help the student embrace the skills necessary to achieve health and fitness for a lifetime. A major emphasis will be placed on physical fitness, cooperative and leadership skills, team and individual sports and on cardiovascular activities. Lifetime wellness skills include the development of techniques and coordination of mind and body necessary for participation in recreation and sports activities such as fitness, team handball, flag football, soccer, archery, golf, badminton and volleyball. This course is offered to all freshmen boys. This is a two-period class.

GIRLS PHYSICAL EDUCATION - 1/2 Credit

Course No. 912

Girls Physical Education is a course designed to teach skills and concepts with a focus on lifetime sports, recreational activities and fitness. The major emphasis will be placed on physical fitness. Individual/team sports, cooperative and leadership skills will also be part of the curriculum. Lifetime sports include the development of techniques and coordination of mind and body necessary for participation in sports and recreation such as tennis, softball, water aerobics and badminton. This course if offered to all freshmen girls and is a two-period class.

Course Fee: $15.00


HEALTH - 1/2 Credit

Girls Health - Course No. 914

Health is a course designed to better equip students to live a life of wellness: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This course will promote a better understanding of how our bodies function, as well as teach the cause-and-effect relationship between how to treat our bodies and the results that we get from them. The Lord has told us that our body is His Temple (I Cor. 3:16-17) and that we are responsible for properly caring for our bodies. Sophomores and any junior or senior who has not taken Health should sign up for this course.


INDIVIDUAL LIFETIME SPORTS

These courses are designed to give an in depth approach to two or three sports. The courses are co-ed and open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. The prerequisite for these courses is Boys or Girls 9th grade P.E. If you desire to take more physical education beyond your freshman requirement, you may choose from the following electives:

FITNESS TRAINING/NUTRITION - 1/2 Credit

Course No. 915

This course is a co-ed two-period elective course. An individual training plan will be developed for each student and the student will be challenged to reach specific goals during the class. The course will introduce circuit training, interval training, weight training, aerobic and anaerobic programs and will provide education about nutrition.


FIRST SEMESTER - GOLF, BOWLING and FITNESS - 1/2 Credit

Limited to 24 students.

This is a two-period course.


ARCHERY, BADMINTON and FITNESS - 1/4 Credit

Course No. 918

Course Fee: $25.00

This is a co-ed one-period course designed to give an in depth approach to these specific sports.


WEIGHT TRAINING - 1/4 Credit

Course No. 919

Course Fee: $10.00

This is a co-ed one-period course.
