In 6th grade this is a yearlong course.
In 7th and 8th grade this is a semester course.
Various paperback novels are read and discussed, and the comprehension is stressed. The work is done in a small group (3 - 6 students) and the workload and the materials are adjusted to fit the student’s aptitude.

This is a yearlong course for each grade level. The following are taught:
- Parts of speech
- Proofreading
- Sentence expansion
- Sentence revision
- Capitalization
- Punctuation
- Paragraph writing
- Sentence revision
- Vocabulary expansion
- Poetry
- Developing 5 paragraph essay
- Essay revision
- Study skills
These may be taught at a slower pace than in the regular classroom with more hands-on activities to improve mastery.
