Books

These books can be purchased through the Grace Family Bookstore, your local bookstore, or through Amazon.com (see links below.)

  • What's So Amazing About Grace? Philip Yancey, Zondervan Publishing
"There is nothing we can do to make God love us more. There is nothing we can do to make God love us less." We speak of grace often. But do we understand it? More important, do we truly believe in it....and do our lives proclaim it as powerfully as our words? In his most personal book yet, the best-selling author of The Jesus I Never Knew takes a probing look at grace; what it looks like...what it doesn't look like...and why only Christians can and must reveal the grace the world is searching for.
  • The "Left Behind" Series, Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, Tyndale Publishers
Six books now in the series giving a fictional, but theologically accurate, picture of what life on earth will be like after the Rapture, during the seven-year Tribulation period. This is a series the whole family can read and which will generate some great family discussions. Although the main books are written for the young adult to adult audience, the authors have written a parallel series for younger children.
  • A Life of Integrity, Howard Hendricks (General Editor), Multnomah Books
Thirteen outstanding leaders raise the standard for today's Christian men. The chapters of this book are messages presented at recent Promise Keepers rallies. This book is "must reading" for all Christian men and young men.
  • Give Them Wings, Carol Kuykendall, Focus On The Family Publishing
Learning to let go when your children are nearly grown - If your children are on the brink of adulthood, this book can help you survive the changes and thrive on the challenges the next few years will bring. You can be prepared to help your teenagers journey into adulthood, as well as learn to enjoy the process of emptying the nest.
  • When Your Kids Aren't Kids Anymore, Jerry and Mary White, Navpress
Parenting late-teen and adult children - Jerry is the General Director of the Navigators. This book is currently out of print in the US but can be purchased directly from the Navigators headquarters in Colorado Springs. It is published in Singapore. You may be able to get it through this e-mail address: navsing@singnet.com.sg.
  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey, Fireside (Simon & Schuster)
This book is destined to become the last word on surviving and thriving as a teen and beyond. Although NOT a Christian book, the author is unknowingly taking biblical truth and applying it to everyday experience. This is a great book to read WITH your teen. A motivated, self-disciplined, and successful young adult may be the reward for your effort!
  • The Five Love Languages, Gary Chapman, Northfield Publishing
People express and receive love in different ways. Dr. Gary Chapman identifies these as the five languages of love:
    • Quality Time
    • Words of Affirmation
    • Gifts
    • Acts of Service
    • Physical Touch
Great insights are shared on how to meet the needs of your spouse AND your children. You will enjoy this book.
