Happy Tuesday MS Families,
I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving break and enjoyed your family time. Periodically, I will share an article that may impact and be pertinent to our students and their families. Jeff Stimpson, Pastor of Grace Powell Church and who is also our middle school boys’ basketball coach, over break shared a message “The iPhone Family” which focused around a series called “Family Matters”. It had a very direct effect on our family so much so that my four teenagers came to realize and appreciate the fact of not using our cell phones in the car was an “ok thing”. He speaks on not only how the iPhone robs us of our emotional and physical well-being, but also our spiritual well-being. I would invite you as parents to listen/watch it, but then also carve out time to sit and watch it with your children. It will be time well spent …I promise! http://www.gracechurchpowell.org/grace-media/sermons/message/the-iphone-family/watch . We will soon have available in our WCMS library the two books he recommends towards the end of his sermon – 12 Ways Your Iphone is Changing You and Plugged in Parenting. Feel free to stop by and check them out before Christmas break.
With the cold weather drawing near, you can find our delays and school closings on the WCS app as well as on our website. You can also sign up for text alerts through the WCS app. In working with the food service department, should we operate on a two-hour delay, the middle school food service (along with high school food service) will provide lunch service to our students. Lunch will be scheduled for 12:38pm which is later than our normal schedule. However, we will operate on the assumption that your child has eaten breakfast. Hopefully, this will help you as you make the necessary last minute adjustments to your day.
Because the middle school tends to be the “hub” for our families, and in the event we were to close early, it would be helpful if we had your contact information at our finger tips. Therefore, please go to Final Forms on the website (under Quick Links) and complete the ‘Transportation Form’. It will take just a minute to do so, while saving us valuable time on our end when trying to connect your child with his/her siblings.
Next Tuesday, December 4th from 1 to 7 PM, we will have our Admission Open House for prospective families. We would like to extend an invitation for you to invite your family and friends to our open house. There will be plenty happening throughout the school day and high school games into the evening. You are our best means of advertisement and it’s families like you that we want!
Some other reminders:
