On Saturday, February 16, WCHS music students performed at the Ohio Music Education Association’s Solo and Ensemble Contest with great success. They competed alongside students from the largest schools in central Ohio. Noteworthy performances with minor defects receive an “excellent” rating, while outstanding performances with very few errors receive a “superior” rating.
WCHS band members took part in 11 instrumental events (eight soloists and three ensembles), receiving a total of eight superior ratings and two excellent ratings.
WCHS orchestra members took part in three instrumental events (all soloists), receiving one superior and two excellent ratings.
WCHS choir members took part in 27 vocal events (five ensembles and 22 soloists). Of these events, one WC vocal ensemble received an excellent rating and four more received superior ratings. Of the 22 soloists that competed, seven received excellent ratings and 15 received superior ratings.
