2006 graduate honored for his work in bringing cultures together

WC alumni now reach across the country and around the world, and the kingdom of heaven is advancing as a result of the thousands of roles that they play. Each year, we honor one of them as our Alumnus or Alumna of the Year. This year, we are proud to announce that one of our very own faculty members has been selected for this honor.

Jason Dawson, Class of 2006, is this year’s Alumnus of the Year.

When Jason enrolled at WC in his freshman year of high school, he was one of the first students we had to bridge the gap between an urban cultural upbringing and a suburban school experience. As a school, we have probably underestimated how difficult that bridge can be for students to cross. And yet, through perseverance, hard work, a mom who would not let him fail, and a firm trust in God, Jason has become a man who now mentors and leads other young people in crossing similar bridges.

Jason’s selection was made by school leaders after accepting nominations from the WC community. He was recognized at graduation exercises on May 26, 2019. To learn more about Jason’s story, please watch this brief video.
