As the fall athletic season approaches, please be advised of the upcoming Fall Sports Parent Meeting and the need to update and complete Final Forms before your student’s first official practice (July 29 or August 5 depending on the sport).
Fall Sports Parent Meeting
The Fall Sports Parent Meeting is on Tuesday, July 30 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at Worthington Christian Middle School (1485 Lazelle Road). It is required that one parent attend an athletic parent meeting each year. If you attend the fall meeting, you don’t have to attend the winter or spring athletic department meetings later in the school year if your student plays a sport in one of those seasons.
Following the 6 p.m. athletic department meeting, all head coaches will conduct their sport’s parent meeting. These meetings are important to attend, so you can meet the coaching staff, understand the coaches philosophy and expectations, and get information on the season timeline, schedules, etc.
Clearance in Final Forms is required before an athlete can begin official practice on July 29 or August 5. To be cleared in Final Forms, an athlete must have a current physical, and the athlete and parent must both create an account in Final Forms and e-sign all of the state-required forms and WC-required forms. Our athletic department will not be collecting any hard copies of forms this school year. If your child’s physical expires after August 1, please have the new Final Forms account set up by the July 22 deadline.
The only document that is required to be turned into the athletic office before clearance is a copy of the athletes physical (please give us a copy and keep the original copy at home). You may email physicals to Jennifer Deskins, athletics administrative assistant, or drop them off in the WCHS office (6670 Worthington Galena Road) or the WCMS office (1485 Lazelle Road).
We anticipate close to 300 students participating in a sport at WC this fall. Our Athletic Trainer Amanda Moskal and Jennifer Deskins invest countless hours in the days leading up to the first practice each fall working on clearing athletes for participation. We simply can’t clear a high volume of athletes the day before practices begin. With this in mind, we require that each athlete turn in his/her physical, has an account on Final Forms and all of the required forms have been e-signed by Monday, July 22.
For those who wait beyond July 22 to turn in a physical and/or are unable to complete the requirements on Final Forms, we will not guarantee clearance for the first official practice. If you currently have a yearly physical scheduled for your child between July 22-August 5, please let Amanda know as soon as possible. In this instance, we will work with you the best we can on clearance by the first practice.
Thank you to all who have already created their accounts. Many accounts have physicals turned in but are missing student signatures. If a parent and or student signatures are incomplete, your child is not cleared to participate.
