This year we will be changing our standardized testing program in grades K-8 from TerraNova to MAP. There are a number of good reasons for this, including the ability to administer the test multiple times over the school year in a much smaller time period, which frees up additional time for classroom instruction and allows for more timely feedback on student progress.

To make this switch, however, we must provide sufficient training for teachers on MAP administration. In order to make this work, we will be changing Friday, January 15, 2021 from a regular school day with students to a professional development day for all K-12 teachers and a day off school for all students. This change will make it a four-day weekend with MLK Jr. Day the following Monday. We will also use this time to do a deep cleaning of the school since it falls in the middle of the projected flu season.

You can find out more about MAP standardized testing here. If you have any questions about the change, you may contact Director of Teaching and Learning Tom Burns.

Thank you for understanding the need for this change. We think it will greatly benefit our students.
