COACH HARTINGS ANNOUNCES NEW ‘TRAIN FOR TACKLE FOOTBALL’ PROGRAM
Program prepares kids for success.
Head football coach Jeff Hartings is launching a new program this fall to prepare boys in grades five and six for tackle football. The purpose of this program is to prepare youth in grades 5 and 6 mentally and physically for tackle football in the future. Coaches will gradually progress players from helmets to shoulder pads to full pads, teaching them the necessary skills to not only perform well but more importantly how to protect themselves from unnecessary injuries. Coaches will monitor and supervise each individual player and drill so that injuries can be avoided. This program will also allow boys that are concerned about how they can compete in a physical sport to gain skill and strength, therefore gaining the confidence to play tackle football in the future. Controlled scrimmages will be played on Saturdays against each other. By season’s end, our hope is that we will have full pad scrimmages with full hitting and perhaps tackling.
