COACHES SPOTLIGHT: CHELSEA MEYERS
Chelsea Meyers has been an Administrative Assistant at the Upper School since 2017 and a WC volleyball coach for the past two years. As a former outside hitter at Bryan College, Chelsea is excited to coach girls in a sport that she loves so much.
What inspires you to coach?
“The girls on the team. Getting to know them and seeing their progress from beginning to end. The relationships that you make during the season and seeing how great they are at the end is the most rewarding thing about coaching.”
What is your greatest challenge in this role?
“My insecurities about coaching. Sometimes I question whether I am old enough or wise enough to coach Varsity Girls Volleyball, but I know that the Lord put me here for a reason, and I need to trust Him. Even though I am young, I do have the experience and knowledge that I can offer and I want to share that with these girls.”
How do you incorporate faith into your coaching?
“Praying with the girls and reminding the girls that you don’t have to wait until you’re older to be a faithful servant of the Lord. I encourage the girls to take ownership of their faith and love the Lord now so that they can be a good example on the court and off. I want them to continue to love the Lord and be good role models for others.”
