STAFF SPOTLIGHT: MICHELLE BARLITT
Michelle Barlitt began her career at WC as a Kindergarten teacher in 1992. She has touched many lives in her roles serving the WC community.
What is your role at WC, and how long have you worked here?
I am an intervention specialist at the Lower School, focusing primarily on reading and writing needs. I have worked at WC for 30 years, on staff from 1992 to 2014 as a kindergarten teacher, first-grade teacher, and basic skills intervention/enrichment teacher. Since 2014, I have been blessed to continue working at WC in the Intervention Services department.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The most rewarding parts of my role at WC are witnessing the “I get it!” moments after a student has persisted to understand a concept or achieve a skill and finding a successful strategy that makes a big difference in a student’s learning experience. My joy is doubled or tripled when it also impacts the student’s ability to enjoy home life more fully because of time saved or frustration reduced.
What is something interesting your students may not know about you?
I love to go camping!
