TEACHER TUESDAY: ELIZABETH AMES

Home » All-School News » Teacher Tuesday » TEACHER TUESDAY: ELIZABETH AMES

Elizabeth Ames has worked as a Kindergarten teacher at Worthington Christian since 2015, but she has 20 years of teaching experience in preschool and Kindergarten. With a Master’s degree in Montessori Education, her teaching methodology is largely influenced by a hands-on, interactive approach to education.

How would you describe your teaching style? “I like to think of myself as a guide, providing appropriate materials and opportunities for my students to explore, make connections, and learn together. I engage my students as detectives and observers of what God has made.”

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role? “I love listening to what my students have to say and share–the connections they make and the joy they find in simple things. Kindergarteners are genuinely excited to learn and have so much growth over their first year of formal schooling.”

How do you incorporate faith and learning? “I want to instill in my students a deep love for God and His creation. I can do that by helping them develop the skills that will enable them to better discover Him and all that He made. Every Kindergartener at WC keeps a Bible journal in which they draw illustrations of stories we study in class. I love seeing the details they add and what elements speak to them.”
