Kindergarten

The kindergarten program at Worthington Christian is staffed with loving and nurturing teachers who strive to provide the very best educational experience for each individual child and their families. Our teachers have worked to develop a curriculum that challenges each child to grow cognitively, physically, socio-emotionally, and spiritually throughout the year. Our teachers seek to partner with parents to provide the best educational experience in a loving, caring, and safe environment. Our teachers have a great home-to-school connection with all parents. Through our weekly newsletters, conferences, and e-mails, we truly have a partnership with our parents. We have a low teacher-to-child ratio which provides us the opportunity to meet the individual needs of each child. Our teachers have been trained in different learning styles, and we seek to provide a perfect balance between hands-on activities and seat work. Most important, our teachers love the Lord and pray for each child daily. Each family knows that our teachers love their students with the arms and heart of Jesus every day.

Kindergarten is a Monday through Friday half-day program. We offer a morning session from 8:45-11:15 and an afternoon session from 12:45-3:15. Full-day Kindergarten is made up of a morning session and our afternoon Kindergarten care from 11:15-3:15. Before and/or after school age child care is available from 7:00-8:00 a.m./3:15-6 p.m. for an additional cost. Many of the area public schools provide one-way busing for WCS Kindergarten students: to school for morning students and from school for afternoon students. Transportation must be arranged with the transportation department of the public school district of residence.

Students entering WCS kindergarten must be able to:

  • Work independently at their seats
  • Join cooperatively in activities
  • Adapt to new, different situations and requirements without becoming easily upset or requiring frequent redirection
  • Play and interact amicably with other children
  • Self control impulses
  • Regulate self within boundaries established by teacher

Kindergarten Interview

The final step in our kindergarten application process is an interview with our Director of Early Education or our elementary principal. This is a special time for us to get to know you, rather than relying on a paper application alone. During this time we also explain the enrollment process, go into more detail on our educational philosophy, and answer all your other questions about our program.
