Announcements and information for Lower School parents and students.

February 20, President’s Day: No School

This Week 

  • The 3-12 Strings Festival will be on Thursday, February 9 at 7 p.m.
  • SNOW| Don’t forget to sign up for text alerts. A text alert is how you can easily find out if school is canceled or delayed. Here are directions: text alerts. And, if we are on a delay, here is what you need to know:
    • 2-hour delayed start:
      • Students may begin arriving at 10:30am, and school will start at 11:00am.
      • All students must pack a lunch – there is no lunch service.
      • If you depend on the public school bus, please reach out to that transportation department to verify service. Our shuttle buses will run on a 2-hour delay schedule.
    • 2-hour delayed start for kindergarten students
      • We do not have morning kindergarten.
      • Any student enrolled in Kstars (AM or PM) can report at 10:30am along with all other students.
      • We do have afternoon kindergarten, starting at 12:30pm.
  • RECESS| The students are enjoying going out for recess, but we need your help!
    • We will go out for recess even on snowy days. It is best for students to have waterproof boots. If they don’t, they will need to stay out of the snow.
    • If your child plans on going in the snow (with their boots), please make sure they have shoes to change into for the classroom.
    • Remind your child to dress appropriately for the weather – again, we will go out whenever possible!


  • Valentine’s Parties will be at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14! More details will come home in Monday folders.
  • No school Monday, February 20| President’s Day.
  • Tuesday, February 21 is the date for the final Lower School Admissions Night. The event begins at 7 p.m. and will be a great source of information for perspective families!

  • Snow days/delays are definitely a possibility this time of year! Please sign-up for text alerts at this link: 
  • Cold and flu season has arrived! Please remember to call the attendance hotline 614-410-4343 by 9 a.m. to report your child absent or tardy. Even if you email the teacher, you must call the hotline!
  • Shuttle Bus Riders | If your child rides the shuttle to the Upper School, students MUST be picked up promptly. We do not provide supervision at the US for students riding the shuttle from the LS to the US. If you need childcare beyond 4 p.m., please sign up for our after-school program (SACC).


  • The Lower School day is 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Morning parent drop-off begins at 8:30.) Dismissal begins at 3:30 pm.
  • The Lower School main office line is 614-431-8240.
  • The Upper School main office line is 614-431-8210.
  • The Attendance Hotline is 614-410-4343. Leave a message regarding student absence, tardy, or early release information.
  • WC Text Alerts:  This notification system is used to contact subscribers in the event of an emergency, power outages, and school closings and delays. From your phone, text the word SUBSCRIBE to 888-665-2052. Save this number to your contacts as WC Text Alerts.
