After seven seasons, Hartings is looking forward to focusing on his family

After seven seasons at the helm, Jeff Hartings is stepping down as Worthington Christian’s head football coach. Coach Hartings led the Warriors to league championships in 2019 and 2022 with an overall record of 46-27.

Coach Hartings shared in a statement to the school that he has made this decision in the best interests of his family. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to form relationships with players, coaches, and parent volunteers. He stressed the privilege of developing meaningful bonds with his players, stating, “To all of the students across all ages that I have had the chance to coach in flag football, youth tackle football, middle school, and high school football, I cannot thank you enough for giving me the opportunity to coach you. I hope and pray that I have had a positive impact on your life in some way.”

Worthington Christian’s Head of School, Dr. Mike Hayes, thanked Coach Hartings, stating, “The entire WC family joins us in thanking Coach Hartings and his family for all they have done to positively impact our student-athletes by helping them know Christ more fully and grow in their ability and love for the game of football. As a pivotal piece in launching the football program at WC, Coach Hartings has influenced our players by the amount of time, dedication, and focus invested in establishing a strong foundation for the high school, middle school, and youth football programs.

Coach Hartings has played a pivotal role in launching Worthington Christian’s football program, building a solid foundation for the high school, middle school, and youth football programs. Athletic Director Tony Earp notes, “Coach Hartings has brought a Christ-centered culture to the football program that believes in hard work in the pursuit of excellence both on and off the field. Those will be the building blocks for the program’s success moving forward.”

We pray for continued blessings for Coach Hartings and his family. They always will be a part of the WC family. We are grateful for his legacy and impact that will continue to influence his players and our school well beyond his time as our football coach.

As the search for our next head football coach commences, we are committed to providing a smooth transition for current and future WC athletes and families. Coach Hartings will continue to assist with current off-season football activities as the transition moves forward. Look for additional details on the search process in the coming days.
