What a meaningful final day of ministry for our students and teams. Many felt the weight of it being the last day, realizing how quickly this trip is coming to a close. We’ve heard again and again, “This has felt like both the longest and the shortest week of our lives.”
All five teams — Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, and Med — served in villages, schools (public and private), churches, a nursing home, and a daycare. The students continue to be amazed by the children’s affection and curiosity — clinging to them, asking questions, and offering endless hugs and piggyback rides. Some teams faced new challenges, from sharing with high school students to singing over elderly residents in the nursing home, yet many stepped forward with courage, boldly sharing their testimonies and trusting the Holy Spirit to lead.
Tonight, after hearing from SCORE missionaries and our own WC graduate, Jon Miles, the group gathered in the Upper Room for worship and sharing. Students reflected on what they came with that they want to leave behind and what they’ve discovered they want to carry home. Many spoke of God’s goodness and the ways He revealed Himself throughout the week. It was deeply moving and encouraging to hear how actively He is working in their lives.
Tomorrow we will close the trip together with a day at Catalina Island. It is hard to believe this journey is nearly over.
