Ethan and Rebecca (Stomps) Houts’ (WC ’07) relationship began as friends and developed over time.

How many years have you been married? We will be celebrating our 10th anniversary this April (13th).

When did you first meet? We first met in grade school and were friends throughout high school.

When was your first date? Our first date was our junior year of high school. We went to see the movie “King Kong” at the Rave movie theater. We had no idea the movie was 3 hours long!

What do you know about God now that you didn’t know before you were married? We have both experienced being sharpened by each other (Proverbs 27:17). It is neat to see how God uses our different gifts and abilities to build the other person up and help our perspectives be more well-rounded. The longer we have been married, the more we have learned how God knew exactly what we needed in a spouse and life partner to be our best and draw closer to Christ.

What advice would you give those hoping to marry one day? Our advice would be to build a strong friendship first and then see if a romantic relationship develops. We had a deep respect for one another and shared many common interests before we started dating.
