Upper and Lower School Students Partner to Design, Market, and Sell Apparel, Blending Real-World Business Skills with School Spirit

This shopping season, Worthington Christian School (WC) invites you to shop with purpose. In a unique collaboration, Upper and Lower School students have created and launched exclusive Warrior and Christian apparel, blending school spirit with real-world business skills. Guided by sixth-grade teacher Allie Elifritz and Upper School Small Business and Entrepreneurship Coordinator Nick Johnson, students have transformed classroom lessons into hands-on retail experiences—designing products, setting prices, and even managing the WC Spirit Store’s social media.

Learning Through Real-World Application

Upper School students enrolled in Retail Management are fully engaged in designing, pricing, and producing spirit wear. From creating logos and merchandising products to setting prices and managing sales at school events, these students are gaining a firsthand look at what it takes to run a retail business. They even manage the WC Spirit Store’s Instagram account (@wc_spiritstore), giving them a platform to develop social media strategies.

Meanwhile, sixth graders have been working hard surveying students and parents at the 3-6 campus to understand what products are in demand. After collecting and analyzing data, the students used their findings to create designs and select items for a special pop-up shop. Using tools like Canva for graphic design and bar graphs for market research, sixth graders learned to think like entrepreneurs as they turned data into decisions.

A Holiday Sale Like No Other

This year’s Holiday Sale is not just about shopping—it’s an educational experience that both Upper and Lower School students have worked diligently to prepare. Random orders during the shopping windows will win $20 gift cards, adding excitement to the shopping experience.

Production and Delivery

Orders will be delivered to the students specified on the order form (Lower School: Homeroom Teacher; Upper School: First Period Teacher) before Christmas break, unless otherwise noted. If orders exceed current inventory, some production may extend beyond Christmas.

Collaboration and Community

The partnership between Upper and Lower School students has fostered a sense of community and teamwork. Students provide each other with feedback, develop problem-solving skills, and experience business realities, including challenges like budgeting and managing resources sustainably.

Parents and WC supporters can look forward to a holiday shopping event that supports student learning and school spirit while providing unique gifts crafted by WC’s next generation of entrepreneurs.
