A Big Week for WC Basketball

Home » Athletic Announcements » A Big Week for WC Basketball

This past week has been an exciting one for our basketball program!

Last week, our Boys 8th-grade team won the Central Buckeye League Championship game by defeating Bexley 53-35. With the win, the Warriors finished the season undefeated, 20-0! A big thanks to Coaches Little and Yeary and to all the parents who made this incredible season possible.

On Friday, the Boys Varsity team won the CBL Championship title outright in a tough defensive battle against Columbus Academy, winning 47-35. The last time the team won the league championship outright was in 2021 when they proceeded to advance to the state finals.

On Monday, the Boys Varsity team capped off a tremendous regular season with a strong win over Centerburg creating momentum for tournament time. They ended the evening with a net cutting ceremony to celebrate their conference win. See all the pictures HERE.

One of the highlights of this night was watching Jonah Lewis score the 1,000th point of his career. Lewis becomes the eleventh Boys Basketball Warrior to reach this milestone, an honor also shared by teammate Sam Johnson, who reached 1,456 career points after the Bexley game. Sam Smith (WC ’00) holds the record for most career points scored at 1,695. Congratulations to Jonah on this huge accomplishment!

On Tuesday night, our Varsity Girls team won their first sectional tournament game against Columbus Academy 44-34. The girls will continue their tournament campaign this Friday, 2/23, at Centerburg at 7 PM.

Boys Varsity Basketball sectional tournament begins next Tuesday, 2/27, at Home at 7 PM when the team takes on Amanda Clearcreek.

We look forward to cheering on our Warriors in the tournament!
