Today was a hot one, and the students were tired, but they gave every last ounce of energy, love and effort in the places we visited. The Green team visited a school and essentially had a “6 hour recess” with students of various ages! They played baseball, basketball, soccer, and football, got their hair braided, made crafts, colored, sang songs and loved on the sweet Dominican kids. The Yellow team went to Ensanche and embraced the energetic kids, doing parts of their program and then just playing with the kids, before switching and hanging with kids down the road at the daycare. The Red and Blue teams swapped halfway thru the day and did half a day at Emmanuel House and half a day in a nearby village, praying with some families. One of the pastors shared with the blue team that he had come to know Christ as a result of a team that had visited his village as a kid. It was such a powerful message for the kids to hear. The medical team saw 67 patients today and worked very well together, taking turns during vital signs, running errands for the doctors or filling orders for the pharmacy. A house call was made for a woman who was unable to get out of bed. They also stopped at a second village, spontaneously and were able to snuggle an 11-day old baby. It was a meaningful day!
After getting home and having some downtime to swim, relax, and play cards, the students ate dinner and heard from some Score missionaries for the evening service. Students then spent their free time playing games, chatting, listening to Mr. Roads tell stories, and snacking on cereal. It’s hard to believe we have one last day together, which will be spent exploring the capitol.
